Systems design, design methodology, digital tools and technology, social responsibility and the politics of place, bottom-up processes in design, typography, music theory, photography and film-making, science and the scientific method, and Japanese design and culture.

Orestes Chouchoulas is co-founder of Dark Matter Laboratories, a Project 00 strategic research studio developing new institutional infrastructure for collaborative systems change. He also directs a small interdisciplinary design studio in London. In the past he has worked as an architect for large and small offices specialising in residential architecture. He has taught at the University of Bath, London Metropolitan University, and Central Saint Martins, as well as at Oxford Brookes University. For his PhD he developed a computer-supported methodology for conceptual architectural design using genetic algorithms.
