Digital know-how

Digital know-how is the third prong of the EXPLORE@Brookes continuing professional development programme of holistic academic practice development for ALL academic and research staff. It has been developed with reference to feedback from staff who started working at Oxford Brookes since 2019 and sector best practice.

Digital know-how is about developing our own skills and capabilities as digital professionals so that we can manage our work effectively. It is about paying attention to our own and others’ wellbeing in a world where digital technology has become ubiquitous and we are always accessible. It is supported by colleagues in OCAED, Digital Services, Faculty DMELDs and IT Services.

Digital know-how is a way of demonstrating your commitment to continuing professional development (one of the requirements of HEA fellowship). For example you can:

  • find out more about the Brookes digitally enabled teaching toolkit
  • engage with online self-directed resources
  • seek out and attend workshops in our Talking Teaching webinar series and take a look at previous sessions such as “Flipping for engagement: online learning communities”
  • sign up for CPD sessions via EXPLORE@Brookes e.g. Building Learning Communities, Digitally enhanced learning, Designing learning content and activities with H5P.
