There are many different ways in which you can get involved with Oxford Brookes, and benefit from the expertise of our academic specialists across a wide range of subjects.
We are working hard to open up learning opportunities to everyone, whatever your background or previous level of education - just follow the links on this page to find out more.
A programme of short courses, covering varied subjects including study skills, IT and community journalism, for adult learners who come from an area or background of disadvantage.
We run many events and programmes aimed at improving educational attainment in local schools and encouraging under-represented groups to consider higher education.
Read about the diverse ways in which many Brookes' staff contribute to our region, using their expertise for the greater good in advisory and voluntary roles. Others base their research firmly in the community - seeking solutions to real issues, from homeless drug abuse to social and health inequalities in Oxfordshire.
Brookes offers far more than just degree level courses. We provide a wide range of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses in many industry sectors, ranging from short courses to part-time master level qualifications. We are the main provider of CPD to Oxfordshire's teachers and architects. Courses are available in areas including architecture, art and design, business and management, computing skills, engineering and motorsport, health and social care, languages, law, planning, publishing and digital media, and teaching.
Brookes organises regular lectures that are open to all, and free to attend. These include talks by both our own academics and visiting guest speakers. Our speakers deal with a very broad range of subjects, such as law and politics, food science and nutrition, the origins of life, creative writing and software engineering.
Our sociable summer school offers a range of short English courses each year between May and August, for academic and everyday purposes.
Cool Science Investigators provides a free outreach service to educate and inspire school children. The scheme is designed to raise awareness and enjoyment of science in schools. Our workshops help with the understanding of key concepts and scientific processes as well as developing students' practical and enquiry skills.
