    Numbering

How to resolve problems with numbering format.

These templates make use of ‘Outline Numbering’. Use the Increase Indent / Decrease Indent commands on the ribbon (or toolbar) to change the list level.

If the format of the numbering gets messed up, please follow the steps below:

    Word version 2010

    1. Click the Multilevel List button on the Home ribbon.
    2. Choose the list format that corresponds with the rest of the document (see table).
    3. To continue the numbering from the previous list, right-click on the offending number, choose Continue Numbering or Set Numbering Value.

    Word version XP/2003

    1. Right-click on the line that has the offending number format.
    2. Choose Bullets and Numbering, and select the Outline Numbered tab.
    3. Choose the list format that corresponds with the rest of the document (see table).
    4. Select ‘Continue previous list’. Click OK.

Extra guidance for the minutes template

To set the number value for the first number of the minutes (so that it continues from the last minute value of the previous meeting):

    • Word 2010: right-click on the first number, choose Set Numbering Value.
    • Word XP/2003: position the insertion point on the line with the first number. Choose Bullets and Numbering, select the Outline Numbered tab, choose Customise, then adjust the Start at value.
