This is a one day only event so make sure you don’t miss it! The BBC is bringing its latest Virtual Reality experiences to OBU in a temporary installation on the 10th October in Union Square at the John Henry Brookes Building at Headington Campus. Expect headsets, an International Space Station, a fairy-tale forest and a perfect replica of Albert Square’s Queen Vic pub, for real.


This is not just for tech geeks, there’s something for everyone.

12:30pm: Ian Ravenscroft, writer and producer for BBC Three
Ian works in the digital development team at BBC Three and has a background in scriptwriting, animation, digital production, social media, and journalism. Ian will discuss his latest project, Step Inside My Head, a series of shorts for BBC Three that feature people with mental health issues creating virtual reality artworks to help people understand just what’s going on in their heads for real. Ian will also discuss how he and his team created a unique mixed reality filming technique to capture the process.

1:00pm: Jessica Driscoll, senior producer BBC R&D
Jessica has a wealth of experience in Virtual Reality; she’s produced VR films for fundraising for UNICEF, Rotary International and Greenpeace as well as creating virtual training simulations for Ebola health professionals in Sierra Leone. She now works in the BBC Connected Studio team, devising work programmes and events that lead to the production of innovative digital pilots. She will be sharing her expertise in VR with students.
