Reports of bicycles being stolen in Oxford have rocketed this year, new figures show. However you can do plenty to prevent your bike from theft.
Are you leaving your bike on Campus over the festive holiday period? unfortunately many bikes left with poor quality locks will be targeted by bike thieves and when you return in the New Year you may find your bike missing.
Come along to the bike security event in Union Square on 11th December from 11.00am to 2.00pm to see a demonstration of how easily poor quality locks fail, see examples of bike locks collected over the past year which the security team have recovered following bikes being stolen.
The demonstration and event offers a range of ideas on bike security including how to secure a bike effectively with a D lock.
Also a further opportunity to take advantage of the FREE bike marking offered to Students and Staff by the University, so bring your bike along or alternatively make an appointment on the day to get registered with Bike Register the UK,s Police approved bike marking and registration scheme.
All participants will have the opportunity be entered in a free prize draw to win a top quality bike D lock and bike lights.
