Chinese calligraphy is one of the oldest forms of written communication and is still an integral part of modern Chinese culture.
This workshop combines lesson with practice. Participants will be introduced to this elegant art form and experience writing characters as they are guided through the basic strokes and produce the character 春 chūn, meaning 'spring' . Participants will be provided with ink, brushes and ample paper to practice before trying their skills on red paper, traditionally a prized colour for calligraphy works. There will be extra time for students to practice additional characters and possible Chinese names if they wish.
This session is being organised by the Confucius Institute at Oxford Brookes University.
