Roberto Filippello is a doctoral researcher at University of Edinburgh, where he also runs a queer theory book forum and co-convenes the “SEXES” research group. His work, intersecting queer theory and philosophies of emotion, looks at the representation and distribution of “queer affects” within visual culture. This talk theorises “queer neutrality” by conducting a critical analysis of the film-documentary Paradise Lost (1996) and a fashion story inspired to it shot by Steven Klein for Dutch magazine (2002).
