Who this event is for
Prof Katharina Eckert talks on the role of physical activity in disease management programmes for chronically ill people in Germany.
Disease Management Programmes (DMPs) are centrally-organised programmes designed to standardise and improve the quality of patient care and have been established with the goal to meet the growing requirements for an efficient health care for patients with chronic conditions. The main aims are to improve the treatment of the patient and to reduce the disease-indicated limitations and secondary disorders.
Despite the wealth of evidence regarding the positive effects of physical activity, exercise programmes do not rate among the main treatment methods used in DMPs. The talk will adress this problem and give an insight how to implement behaviour-orientated physical activity programmes within the framework of DMPs.
