Details
For the final event of this semester, the Brookes Fine Art Research unit (FAR) welcomes Israeli filmmaker Iris Zaki for a screening of her award-winning film, 'Women in Sink'. This extraordinary short film documents Zaki's time working at a Christian Arab-owned hair salon in Haifa, Israel. Through conversations with clients, she paints an unexpected choral portrait of a space that provides temporary freedom, where women share their differences and a community of views on politics, history and love.
The film screening will be followed by a talk by Zaki about her work, which highlights the often unseen experiences of the diverse communities of Israel and beyond.
