Wednesday, 06 February 2019, 18:00 to 19:00
Who this event is for
JHB Main Lecture Theatre, John Henry Brookes Building, Headington Campus
With Britain due to leave the EU in March, Frances O'Grady will put the case for a radical agenda for change, from the government’s economic priorities to the way companies are run.
She will address key, unresolved questions that affect working people. How do we prepare for the huge uncertainty that lies head? How do we build an economy for the many not the few? How can we deliver better jobs, wages and services amidst the disruption of Brexit and technological revolution?
Frances is General Secretary of the TUC, the first woman to hold the position since the organisation was founded in 1868.
“I have been an active trade unionist all my adult life, fighting for social and economic justice for working people. My career highlights are not personal, but collective: helping workers win better pay and conditions; helping mums and dads better balance work and family life; making people’s experience of work more fulfilling and more productive.”
