Many of us feel powerless in the face of what we see on television or read in the news - a world in crisis, with wars and violence taking place across the globe.
Scilla Elworthy will show us how to step out of helplessness and apply our own personal skills to do something about the challenges now facing the world.
Scilla founded the Oxford Research Group and Peace Direct, co-founded Rising Women Rising World and FemmeQ, and advised Peter Gabriel, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Sir Richard Branson on the setting up of The Elders. She has been nominated three times for a Nobel Peace Prize. Scilla’s TED talk on nonviolence has had over 1.4 million views.
Part of the 2019 Oxford Human Rights Festival which will explore the theme of activism.
