The event will give an overview of the awards programme of funding and support and will aim to inspire the next cohort of OBSEA participants –individuals who are passionate about creating social change. There will also be details of additional opportunities for our current OBSEA participants.

In total, funding of £30,000 is available to support projects that help initiate social change using a business model and we will be inviting the next round of applications for the OBSEA awards in the autumn 2013.

Our keynote speaker is adventurer, mountain climber, tour operator and social entrepreneur, Gavin Bate, who set up his charity Moving Mountains in the 1990s. Gavin will share his experiences of social entrepreneurship and leadership in the sector with a talk designed to motivate and create a sense of agency. He will be followed by two speakers who began their OBSEA journey last year and now return to share their life-changing experiences and lessons learnt, of being involved in this nationally-acclaimed, award-winning social entrepreneurship programme. This free event will be opened by Professor Janet Beer, Vice Chancellor.
