Who this event is for
JHB Main Lecture Theatre, John Henry Brookes Building, Headington Campus, Gipsy Lane site
Attending a random lecture (by an Oxford Brookes lecturer) long ago about planning and what planners did, started me on a professional journey that has led to my current role as Head of Planning and Regulatory Services with Oxford City Council. I am grateful to be asked to present this year’s annual lecture I will draw from my career in planning and offer some reflections on what I see as the positive role that planners can play in supporting successful place making (with some recent examples from Oxford and Cambridge where I have been fortunate enough to work). I’m passionately interested in promoting good planning and want to take the opportunity to speak to that and also how this important area of work can be a very rewarding and satisfying career.
The talk will last from 6-7 pm and there will be a buffet after the event from 7pm - 8.30pm in the Foyer of the adjacent Abercrombie Building.
The buffet is being kindly sponsored by David Lock Associates - Town Planning and Urban Design Consultants.
The event is being jointly promoted by the Royal Town Planning Institute (South East Branch).
