We are pleased to confirm that the 7th International Conference on Coaching Supervision will take place on Saturday 13th May 2017 at John Henry Brookes Building, Oxford Brookes University, Headington Campus, Gipsy Lane.
The functions of coaching supervision are now well known, but this year we would like to propose an additional function of supervision – supervising the field of coaching practice, not just coaches. As supervisors we will take a closer look at how to stretch the coaching field of practice out of its comfort zone, the zone of potential complacency. Observing various coaching events we might conclude that the coaching profession had ‘arrived at its rightful place’; we have become very good at celebrating success. However, every field also needs to be disturbed and stretched towards new thinking, by pushing the boundaries away from habitual ways of working in order to move forward. On the individual level, supervisors also need to stretch the coaches they supervise, to make sure that individual coaching practice does not become stale and is open to new challenges. This year we are inviting proposals for presentations from supervisors, coaches, educators and researchers of coaching, who wish to offer different supervisory ways of stretching coaching as a field, stretching coaches as professionals and all of us as learners in life.
