Join Carlo Petrini, founder of the worldwide Slow Food movement, for a drinks reception and four-course dinner with wine prepared in his honour by chef Jeremy Lee.
The evening will begin with a drinks reception in Quod in Oxford’s Old Bank Hotel, at which the winner of the 2015 Mogford Prize for Food Writing will be announced. Transport will then be provided for all guests to and from Brookes Restaurant.
Petrini is now one of the world’s most highly regarded food activists. Over 30 years ago he founded Slow Food, a global grassroots organisation that envisions a world in which all people can access and enjoy food that is good for them, good for those who grow it and good for the planet. This association now has more than 100,000 members in over 160 countries. He launched the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo, Italy, in 2004 to offer academic programmes that bridge the gap between agriculture and gastronomy.
Dinner will be prepared by Lee, one of the UK’s most admired chefs, who presides over Quo Vadis in London’s Soho. Lee began his career working for Simon Hopkinson, before joining Terence Conran as head chef of The Blueprint Café. Quo Vadis won Britain’s Best Kitchen at the 2013 Tatler Awards, and restaurant critic Jay Rayner described Lee as a‘rare phenomena in the London food world: a chap who everyone agrees is a good thing’.
