WORKSHOP 1:

Ethel Burns, Oxford Brookes University
Kim Russell, University of Worcester
Louise Randall, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust
 
Louise shall discuss and debate how the management of third stage affects outcomes for term newborn.
 
Ethel and Kim shall discuss their two studies and present key results from each on the use of birthing pools in the UK.
Discussion shall include:
 
■ The safety of birthing pool use during labour, including waterbirth for women who experienced a straightforward pregnancy, in their planned place of birth.
 
■ An insight into the views of hospital midwives about the use of birthing pools during labour.

 

 

WORKSHOP 2:

Kirsten Baker, Oxford Brookes University

Kirsten shall outline the theory behind approaches that can be adopted to acknowledge and address emotions in midwifery practice. She shall then facilitate an interactive drama based exploration of issues raised.

 

 

Attendance fee: £35 to attend both workshops.
