The event will be opened by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Alistair Fitt, whose previous role at the University was Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and Knowledge Exchange.
Our keynote speech will be given by Dr Sarah Robins-Hobden, an experienced professional in researcher development and training.
Dr Jo Moyle from the University's Careers Centre will run a lively workshop.
The day will include three interactive panels, with plenty of opportunities for your questions, consisting of:
- one panel of PhD alumni who have pursued careers outside of academia;
- one panel of local employers with top tips for the recruitment process;
- one panel of academic staff with a focus on academic pathways.
There will also be a fantastic free lunch!
Testimonials from last year's event:
"The Researcher Career Pathways Event was a fabulous reminder that at any stage in one’s career, opportunities might open up that we would maybe not even consider and it might just require a bit of bravery to accept that our research skills are valid for various and very different career paths."
"It was a really useful day with some great tips and information from the Careers Service and the opportunity to hear some very diverse real-life stories from previous students. I feel more equipped now to make decisions about my future career and am much more aware of the opportunities open to me.”
