Social Distancing in the Hospitality Sector
This event has now finished. Please see our events website for details of upcoming events at Brookes.
Who this event is for
Against a background of great uncertainty regarding the timing and nature of re-opening of the sector, Dr. Kate Mingjie Ji, will review the EU’s “Guidance for the Progressive Resumption of Tourism Service and For Health Protocols in Hospitality Establishments”.
She will also examine actual examples of social distancing in the hospitality establishments from around the world, drawing out ideas and lessons for local businesses. It is essential for such businesses to prepare for the cleanliness and social distancing measures that will be required for reopening. However, at the time of writing, the UK Government’s specific guidelines have not yet been announced.
Dr. Kate Mingjie Ji is a Senior Lecturer at Oxford School of Hospitality Management, Oxford Brookes Business School. She specialises in tourist behaviour modelling and has published in top tier tourism and hospitality journals. She has been the principal investigator of two research projects on tourist congestion, funded by ESRC Knowledge Exchange (1709-DIAL-306) and the British Academy in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
She has successfully delivered workshops for tourism stakeholders and Oxford City Council on understanding tourist congestion in Oxfordshire. She also participated in a study into conference and exhibition centre provision in Oxfordshire.
In order to deliver the best learning experience possible, we will be managing the mix of participants taking part in each session. Please register your interest and once your application has been accepted, you will be sent joining details.
