As society adjusts to technological changes accelerated by the Covid-19 pandemic, what places will traditional analogue forms of culture take within the new digital normal? This session examines the impact of digital media upon traditional art forms.

The field of contemporary art uses a range of resources to communicate with its publics, including social media. These media are fast-moving with new offers arriving at pace, for example, podcasts, virtual reality and three-dimensional platforms that create digital spaces which extend the physical exhibition arena.

A panel of gallery managers, practicing artists and funding bodies will consider issues including: how do new digital media affect the form and content of printed materials, such as exhibition catalogues? What purpose do contemporary artists and commercial galleries locate for these media? What impact do these more ephemeral media have on archives and legacy production?
