- Current students - undergraduate
JHB Main Lecture Theatre, John Henry Brookes Building, Headington Campus, Gipsy Lane site
As an OCS Student Ambassador, you will engage with the work of the society and its working groups, witnessing first-hand how policies are developed and decisions made. You'll have the opportunity to become involved in one-off projects, meet local politicians and other influential people, and represent the student voice in the Society.
The launch event will consist of:
-A brief statement of support from Paul Inman, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of Technology, Design and Environment
-A presentation from Ian Green, Chairman of the Oxford Civic Society, about the initiative
-A chaired Q&A panel
-An informal "meet and mingle" networking session with people from OCS and Brookes, with drinks
This is a fantastic opportunity for students who wish to become more civically engaged, and for those who have an interest in topics such as planning, development, transport, construction, conservation, architecture, urban design, and many others.
Benefits of taking part in the initiative include gaining experience, insight, and knowledge that may prove valuable in your future career; improving employability with OCS providing a reference confirming contribution and experience; and, recognition through the BrookesID scheme.
