Writing Hub Seminar: Dyslexia, Spelling, & Marker Bias
This event has now finished. Please see our events website for details of upcoming events at Brookes.
Who this event is for
1.02, Clerici, Headington Campus
In this seminar, psychology professor Vincent Connelly will explore how poor, hesitant spelling can impact on the ability to produce text, considering bias in marking regarding spelling, and the use of spell-checkers. He will also bring us up to speed on the latest research around dyslexia and writing.
This seminar is the first of an emerging Writing Hub initiative, which aims to draw together the conversation about writing across the university community. There will be some discussion at the event about how this might evolve. We’d welcome contact from staff and students interested in the Hub, even if you can’t attend.
The Writing Hub aims to enable Brookes to develop into a community of writers who support each other to excel. It encompasses staff and students, our academic writers across the disciplines, our present or future professional writers and those at every stage of developing their writing.
