Flow - Oxford Brookes and Modern Art Oxford online exhibition showcases fresh artistic talent

An online interdisciplinary exhibition titled Flow opens today as a collaboration between Oxford Brookes University and Modern Art Oxford. The exhibition will take place from 4 September to 11 October.
The show highlights the creativity of artists from across Oxfordshire, selected from a county-wide call-out earlier this year. Current students and recent graduates of Oxford Brookes University are among the artists featured and a number also form the volunteer group who were pivotal to curating the show.
Flow refers to being in ‘a state of flow’ or ‘in the zone’: when a person is deeply engrossed in an activity and loses all track of time. The artists explored ideas and creativity on this theme ranging from collage and photography to imaginary landscapes. For some, lockdown allowed more time for thought and inspiration. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the exhibition has smoothly transitioned to being shown online after months of workshops and preparation.
The exhibition provides an exciting platform to share the talent of local artists, as well as professional development opportunities for students and emerging artists.
Dr Alexandra Bickley Trott, Programme Lead for Art & Design commented:
“We’re delighted to see our partnership with Modern Art Oxford extended through this celebration of creativity from across Oxfordshire. Flow brilliantly reflects the importance of creativity during uncertain times and we’re pleased to share the diverse work of these talented artists from across the county.
“Curated by a team of Modern Art Oxford cultural volunteers as part of a professional development programme, the exhibition has provided an exciting platform for those starting their journey in the creative industries. We look forward to continuing to provide opportunities through our work with Modern Art Oxford.”
