Professor Joe Tah confirmed as PVC Dean of Technology, Design and Environment

Oxford Brookes is delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Joe Tah as Pro Vice-Chancellor (PVC) and Dean of Technology, Design and Environment (TDE).

Joe has been undertaking the PVC role on an interim basis since July. Prior to this he was Associate Dean Strategy and Development for TDE. He was the founding Head of the School of the Built Environment, having previously held the position of Professor of Project Management and Head of Department of Real Estate and Construction.

Professor Tah commented: "I am tremendously excited by the opportunity to take on the role of Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of Technology, Design and Environment. The faculty has a reputation for delivering an exceptional student experience and preparing our graduates to be fit for the future. We are currently living through challenging times which also present opportunities for us to do things differently. I am committed to continuing to work with colleagues, our students and partners to help drive positive transformational change for the benefit of the communities we serve."

Joe’s academic career spans over three decades, in which he has developed a wealth of interdisciplinary intellectual resources built on his research interests which are at the intersection of civil engineering, construction management, computer science and artificial intelligence. He has generated significant external research income through involvement in many research & consultancy projects. His publications are highly cited and include a co-authored book and over 180 refereed journal and conference papers.

Prior to moving to Oxford Brookes, Joe was Professor of Construction Information Technology and Associate Head for Academic Enterprise in the School of the Built Environment at the University of Salford. He also worked previously as Professor of Construction Management and Director of Research in the Faculty of the Built Environment at London South Bank University.

Joe is on the Board of Trustees of the Oxford Preservation Trust and is a member of the Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership (OxLEP) Clean Growth sub-group. He is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a member of the Chartered Institute of Building.

As PVC Dean, Joe is a member of the Vice-Chancellor’s Group at Oxford Brookes, the most senior staff group responsible for leading the University.
