Oxford Academic Health Science Centre strengthens partnerships
Thursday, 10 April 2014
The four partners behind the successful Oxford Academic Health Science Centre (AHSC) bid came together in March to mark the start of an important shared journey.
This follows an announcement at the end of last year to combine Oxford’s world-leading NHS Trusts and academic institutions.
A video from the launch event can be viewed below and includes contributions from Oxford Brookes University, the University of Oxford, Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust and Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust.
The Centre will combine the institutions' individual strengths in world-class science, research, training and clinical expertise to address 21st century healthcare challenges.
It will allow scientific discoveries to move rapidly from the laboratory to the ward, operating theatre and general practice, so patients benefit from innovative new treatments.
June Girvin, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean, Faculty of Health and Life Sciences said of the Centre that it is "the first time formally we have an opportunity to come together and share our expertise and our resources in a way that has just not been possible before."
