Sunday Times University Guide rates Brookes as best modern university for tenth year in a row.
Oxford Brookes has been named the UK's best modern university for the tenth year in a row in the Sunday Times' University Guide 2011.
Oxford Brookes finishes above many longer-established universities and this year celebrates 10 years as the leading university in its sector. The university has the strongest teaching and research profile in modern universities.Sunday Times' University Guide 2011
The guide is one of the most highly regarded league tables and looks at the performance of universities across the UK in fields like teaching, research, student satisfaction, degree classification and graduate employment prospects.
Brookes climbed three places achieving the highest-ever ranking for a post 1992 university in the league table and was shortlisted for university of the year.
The Sunday Times says of Brookes: “Ranking 47th, Oxford Brookes finishes above many longer-established universities and this year celebrates 10 years as the leading university in its sector. The university has the strongest teaching and research profile in modern universities.”
The online profile adds: “The high quality of teaching is further reflected in the number of National Teaching Fellowships awarded to Oxford Brookes, now standing at five over the past two years.”
It continues: "…A strong research profile manifests itself in numerous tie-ups with local, national and international businesses. Most prominent among them is the world’s largest all-electric car study being undertaken – the Mini E – in conjunction with BMW, the local makers of the Mini car.”
