Championing high-quality international pathways into higher education
Thursday, 26 March 2015
Oxford Brookes is one of seven founding members of an innovative new collaboration called the University Pathway Alliance (UPA).
This represents international pathway programmes which are designed, owned and delivered by UK universities who retain control over the quality of the student experience Richard Side, Director of Oxford Brookes International
The UPA is an alliance of highly-respected providers of international pathways to UK degrees which are designed, managed and delivered directly by its member universities.
It was recently launched at Woburn House in London with an invited audience from the Embassies of countries from the Gulf Cooperation Council.
The initiative aims to provide effective mechanisms for information exchange and communication. Alongside Oxford Brookes, the six other founding members of the UPA are:
- University of Birmingham
- University of Essex
- University of Kent
- University of Reading
- University of Southampton
- Queen Mary, University of London
Richard Side, Director of Oxford Brookes International, commented: “Recent governmental changes affecting higher education in the UK, and the tendency of many institutions to outsource their pathways provision to private organisations, have increased the need for a strategic alliance. This represents international pathway programmes which are designed, owned and delivered by UK universities who retain control over the quality of the student experience.
“A key benefit of this alliance is that we can exchange information and best practice so that students, our courses and support services benefit from these shared experiences.”
Oxford Brookes and its fellow member institutions share an ethos to prioritise excellence in academic provision and the support of students, parents, schools, embassies and other sponsors. The work of the alliance will continue to develop and enhance the academic experience in the increasingly important area of international student provision.
Oxford Brookes International has been welcoming students from all around the world for over 25 years. The University offers a range of high quality academic and English language courses to prepare students for successful study at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Students benefit from the expertise of the academic teaching staff, the excellent student support offered throughout time of study and a beautiful, inspiring city to explore and enjoy.
