Fine Art graduate selected to exhibit at Modern Art Oxford’s Platform 2018

Annie Le Santo, who graduated from Oxford Brookes University this year, has been selected to have a solo exhibition at Modern Art Oxford.

Annie is one of three emerging artists to have a solo exhibition in Modern Art Oxford’s Project Space as part of Platform Graduate Award 2018.

This annual award is designed to nurture new talent from the south east to support art school graduates through the period between graduation and life as a professional artist. The two other art school graduates have been selected from the University of Reading and Ruskin School of Art.

Annie’s work, Lying in Wait, interrogates fundamental human reactions to loss and change. Using textiles and ceramics alongside sound and video, she investigates concepts of safety in relation to the ambiguity between comfort and containment. In these new pieces, the work expands from her own self reflections to asking broader questions about our finite material existence.

Platform has allowed me to maintain momentum post-graduation and is giving me the confidence to be an artist beyond university.”

Annie was in conversation with Tiffany Black, Senior Lecturer, BA Fine Art at Oxford Brookes University on Sunday 23 September at Modern Art Oxford.

Lying in Wait will be exhibited at Modern Art Oxford until Sunday 30 September. More information about Annie’s artwork can be found on her website.
