Oxford Brookes University Football Club are helping to host a festive charity evening event for the local community
Oxford Brookes University Football Club are helping to host a festive charity evening event for the local community.
‘Christmas at The Regal’ will take place from 7pm on Wednesday 15 December 2010 at The Regal on Cowley Road. The event is open to all and entry is free, with all stall proceeds and donations being given to Helen & Douglas House, an Oxfordshire charity providing respite and support for children and young adults with life-shortening conditions.
Some footballers will be dressing up in Santa and elf outfits for a winter wonderland grotto, others will be auctioned off to the highest bidders to carry out household tasks like gardening, cleaning and cooking - or could even pass on their academic knowledge by helping out with homework and revision.
There will be stalls offering face-painting, karaoke, food and drink. In addition, a raffle and penalty-shootout will be held. Performances will come from various groups from all over the county including Oxford Community Choir, The Bicester Concert Band and The Mary and John String Ensemble and School Choir. Prominent poet Bernard O’Donoghue will also be appearing.
The event is the first of its kind to have been organised by the Football Club. They are not only aiming to generate money for charity, but are also eager to meet, bond and create relationships within the local community.
