The Higher Education Academy (HEA) has recognised Dr Emma McDonald for her work with Oxford Brookes’ Department of Psychology.
Dr McDonald was awarded the Psychology Technician of the Year Award at a ceremony held by the HEA this week (17 April).
In the nomination for her award, it was noted that Dr McDonald “has worked tirelessly in providing outstanding support for the student learning experience” and recognised that she is “passionate about psychology and supporting staff and student development.”
Dr McDonald, Psychology Demonstrator and Associate Lecturer, commented: “I was delighted to be nominated by staff and students and to receive this award from the HEA is fantastic. I am always looking for ways in which I can introduce innovative approaches to teaching and research and it is excellent to be recognised for this.”
Dr Janet De Wilde, HEA’s Head of STEM, said: “As the national body for enhancing learning and teaching in higher education, the HEA recognises that technicians, in the field or in the laboratory, have a very important role in supporting the student learning experience. I’d like to extend my congratulations to all the winners.”
Wakefield Carter, Psychology Demonstrator at Oxford Brookes, previously won this HEA award in 2009. Further information on the award is available from the HEA website.
