Leaders in their fields have joined in the graduation celebrations at Oxford Brookes by receiving honorary degrees.

Human rights campaigner Baroness Doreen Lawrence (pictured) was among the recipients.

Baroness Lawrence is a director of the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust which she set up after her 18-year-old son, Stephen, was killed in a racially motivated attack.

She told the Oxford Mail: "When I think about all those things I have done, they are not because I feel I want to be recognised for it but it is a campaign I feel I needed to do."

Other honorary graduands included Dr Katherine Grainger, Olympic gold medallist, Joanna Simons, Chief Executive of Oxfordshire County Council, Jonathan Douglas, Director of the National Literacy Trust, Bahram Bekhradnia, President of the Higher Education Policy Institute (HEPI) and David Levin, Chairman of Capital Group.
