Players from Oxford United Football Club have been undergoing fitness tests at Oxford Brookes over the past two days (23-24 June 2011) as part of their warm-up for the new season.
The entire squad were put through their paces at Oxford Brookes’ Life Science laboratories.
Players were monitored for their cardio-vascular fitness whilst running on a treadmill which increased in speed over time. This will allow staff to evaluate the players and devise specific training schedules.
This will be helpful for Oxford United in preparing its players for the long season ahead and was a great chance to make use of the technology and expertise at Oxford Brookes.
Andrew Dubowski, Strength and Conditioning Coach at Oxford United Football Club, said:
"This is an excellent way of testing just how fit each player is and what we need to do with them over the next few weeks."
