A major gathering of European social entrepreneurship supporters and education providers is to take place at Oxford Brookes on 10 and 11 April 2018.
The Global Social Entrepreneurship Network (GSEN) European Regional Conference is to be held in collaboration with the University of Oxford and the Oxford Social Entrepreneurship Partnership (OSEP) as part of its mission to build a more impactful social entrepreneurship ecosystem across the world.
Jeff Willmore, Social Entrepreneurship Consultant for Oxford Brookes University said: “Being a founder member of GSEN helps place Oxford Brookes at the heart of social entrepreneurship support globally. We are an international university, and 60% of the participants on our social entrepreneurship programme are international students.

“Social entrepreneurs are looking for entrepreneurial solutions to the world’s toughest problems. GSEN members look to support those courageous people who set out to make a change.
“The essence of social entrepreneurship is about collective impact, making a difference together to change the world for the better. By contributing to forums such as these, we gain from peer-to-peer learning, understanding and contributing to the international landscape. We also broaden our spectrum of engagement and further enhance our international reputation.”
More than 30 delegates from across Europe will attend the GSEN conference, which will celebrate the successes of the GSEN network, share talent, knowledge and ideas, and seed support for individual social entrepreneurs and social entrepreneurship communities across the continent. Oxford was chosen to host the conference with a view to showcasing its celebrated local community network for social entrepreneurs, which focuses on OSEP.
The conference will include sessions on, What Makes a Good Local Social Enterprise Support Network and Social Enterprise Universities and their role as Regional Anchor Institutions and will include a host of inspirational speakers, a visit to Marmalade - the international social enterprise and innovation event at The Old Fire Station - and attendance at the Skoll World Forum Opening Plenary event.
