Oxford Brookes increases number of top 20 ranked subjects in latest university guide

The Complete University Guide 2019 has seen Oxford Brookes University ranked in the top 20 institutions in the UK for ten subject areas.

This is an increase on last year’s guide which saw nine Oxford Brookes subjects ranked in the top 20, while the number of subjects ranked in top ten also increased to four.

The Oxford Brookes subjects ranked amongst the top twenty in the country are:

  • Land and Property Management (2nd)
  • Building (7th)
  • Occupational Therapy (9th)
  • East and South East Asia Studies (10th)
  • Physiotherapy (12th)
  • Agriculture & Forestry (14th)
  • History of Art, Architecture and Design(16th)
  • Architecture (18th)
  • Marketing (18th)
  • Hospitality (19th)

This year’s rankings saw 20 subjects at Oxford Brookes improving on their performance last year. Subjects which have seen the greatest rise in the rankings compared to 2018 are: Art and Design, Music, Sociology, Economics, Computer Science, History of Art and Nursing.

The University has also seen improvements in six of the Complete University Guide’s metrics related to student to staff ratio, facilities spend, entry standards, research intensity, academic spend and good honours.

Oxford Brookes’ international reputation for the quality of its courses was recognised earlier this year in the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject.

The 2018 rankings found that Oxford Brookes is “ranked amongst the world’s top universities” in 14 individual subject areas.

This is further to Oxford Brookes University being named as one of the top 50 young universities in the world by the QS World University Rankings 2018 – and is the only UK university to make the list.
