Oxford Brookes is the UK’s top performing university for both teaching and research in the Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings 2018.
Published this week (6 June 2018), the ranking lists the world’s best universities aged 50 years or under.
Current, former and prospective students of Oxford Brookes can take pride in this result and the excellent teaching and research provision at the University Professor Alistair Fitt, Vice-Chancellor of Oxford Brookes University
Oxford Brookes’ number one ranking accolades are an improvement on last year’s results in which the University placed second in the UK for teaching and third in the UK for research.
The University also maintained its place amongst the world’s top 150 young institutions in the overall ranking.
Professor Alistair Fitt, Vice-Chancellor of Oxford Brookes University, said: “For Oxford Brookes to be named as the UK’s best young University for both teaching and research is a tremendous achievement. It is a testament to the quality of our world-leading teaching staff and researchers.
“We strongly believe that an international outlook is a sign of a successful, responsible and forward-thinking institution and our placing amongst the world’s best in the Young University Rankings is a clear demonstration of this.
“Current, former and prospective students of Oxford Brookes can take pride in this result and the excellent teaching and research provision at the University.”
This latest ranking achievement follows further successes last week for Oxford Brookes when the University climbed nine places in the Guardian University Guide.
This was the second consecutive year Oxford Brookes has improved in the Guardian’s rankings and sees the University remain in the top 50 institutions in the UK, with five subject areas considered amongst the UK’s top universities.
In April, Oxford Brookes was ranked in the top 20 institutions in the UK for ten subject areas in The Complete University Guide 2019.
This is in addition to the University’s international reputation for the quality of its courses being recognised in the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject which found Oxford Brookes to be “ranked amongst the world’s top universities” in 15 individual subject areas.
Oxford Brookes was also the only institution in the UK to be listed as one of the top 50 young universities in the world by the QS World University Rankings 2018.
The THE’s Young University Rankings 2018 includes 250 universities, up from 200 in 2017. The table is based on the same 13 performance indicators as the THE World University Rankings.
