A key industry survey has shown Oxford Brookes to be a leading university in producing graduates working within the property industry.

The results from Property Week's first graduate recruitment national survey published this month (July 2011) found that almost one in five (18.1%) graduates had studied at Oxford Brookes.

The survey took its figures from 19 key property firms in the industry such as Savills and DTZ. The findings show that 68 of the 374 graduates recruited in 2011 came from Oxford Brookes. Students from Oxford Brookes were amongst the two universities which make up 40% of the graduates recruited in the property industry, which is significantly better than the results for other higher education institutions in the UK.

Recruitment in the property industry was an area hit badly by the recession and is only beginning to recover. However, the survey highlights the success of students from Oxford Brookes finding work in the industry and having the opportunity to become leaders for the sector.

Nick French, Professor in Real Estate at Oxford Brookes said: 'I am delighted that this study has shown that a significant number of graduates studying in the property industry have studied at Oxford Brookes. This is a great achievement against the backdrop of tough market conditions and is a credit to our excellent graduates. We have fantastic links with the property industry which allows our students to start building relationships with key contacts in the sector during their studies and find employment upon graduation.'

Professor French continued: 'This survey recognition also highlights the fantastic support and expertise offered by staff at the university in helping to provide the best possible student experience.'
