Prof Tim Vorley joins Oxford Brookes

Professor Tim Vorley took on the role of Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of Oxford Brookes Business School earlier this month.

Tim was previously Deputy Dean and Professor of Entrepreneurship at the University of Sheffield.

Oxford Brookes Business School has a reputation for delivering a quality student experience as well as rigorous and relevant research, and these foundations are critical to our future success.

During his time at Sheffield he also served as Deputy Director of the Research Exchange for Social Science, Director of External Business Advancement, and Associate Dean for Engagement, Impact and Innovation.

Prior to working at Sheffield, Tim held positions at the Saïd Business School (University of Oxford) and the University of Cambridge.

An economic geographer by training, Tim’s research has always focused on entrepreneurship, enterprise and regional economic development.

He has a reputation as a leading researcher, and he currently leads the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC)/Innovate UK-funded Innovation Caucus and is Co-Director of the ESRC-funded Productivity Insights Network, as well as partnering on several projects under the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund. 

Tim is also the Vice-Chair of the Small Business Charter, created by Lord Young to recognise business schools that play an effective role in supporting small businesses and student entrepreneurship.

Professor Vorley commented: “I am excited to be taking the reins as Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean. Oxford Brookes Business School has a reputation for delivering a quality student experience as well as rigorous and relevant research, and these foundations are critical to our future success.” 

Professor Vorley took on his new role on 1 June 2020. Chris Blackburn will retire from his role as Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of Oxford Brookes Business School at the end of June 2020.
