Oxfordshire Sportswoman of the Year supported by Brookes Sport

Oxford United Women goalkeeper Demi Lambourne, who benefits from the facilities and support provided by Brookes Sport, was a big winner at the Oxfordshire Sports Awards on Friday (27 November 2015).

Demi was named as Sportswoman of the Year at the annual event hosted by Oxfordshire Sport and Physical Activity.

Congratulations to Demi on her success and I am pleased that Brookes Sport has been able to play a part in her ongoing achievements through the TASS programme

The young goalkeeper has come through the thriving youth development system with the Oxford United Women side and has been involved with the England set up.  

Demi is part of the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) and benefits from using Brookes Sport as a TASS Accredited Centre. 

TASS is a Government funded programme that represents a unique partnership between talented young athletes, national governing bodies of sport and the higher and further education sectors. TASS aims to help its athletes to balance academic life with training and competition as a performance athlete.

Brookes Sport provides sport and leisure facilities and coaching to Oxford Brookes students, staff and the community. Brookes Sport sponsored the Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year awards with the male category being won by Yorkshire cricketer Jack Brooks.

Brookes Sport provides excellent facilities at Headington, Botley and Wheatley for students, staff and the community. In addition, our new performance team, Brookes Perform, offer bespoke strength and conditioning training to teams and individuals looking to maximise their potential."

Oxford United Women Manager Les Taylor said: "It's a great honour and fantastic to see Demi receive an award like this. She works so hard at her game and is also a fantastic role model for any young women looking to get involved in sport."
