Sustainability Week 2014

A film screening powered by the audience riding bikes is just one quirky highlight in the most ambitious Sustainability Week yet – marking Oxford Brookes' tenth year since becoming the world’s first Fairtrade University.

Other fun events designed to make us think a little more carefully about what we consume include a bike sale, a farmers' and Fairtrade market and a debate chaired by the Lord Mayor of Oxford.

The bike-powered documentary 'Do the Math' is, thankfully, a short one.

The week takes place around the University between Monday 24 and Friday 28 February with five themed days focusing on water, transport, food, energy and waste.

The Sustainability Team have organised a large number of activities with day-time events aimed at staff and students while evening events are thrown open to the public as well.

Wendy Vrij, who has organised the week said: "The idea is for people to immerse themselves in all things sustainable, to see the University in a different light and experience the new John Henry Brookes building at night!"
