Postgraduate student shortlisted for national entrepreneurship award
Friday, 19 June 2015
An Oxford Brookes postgraduate student has reached the final rounds of a national entrepreneurship competition.
Vladimir Ivanov-Krymskiy , who has recently graduated from the MSc Business Management course, and his business partner Vladislav Perunov were shortlisted in the postgraduate category of the Santander Universities Enterprise Awards for their business plan submission. The pair will compete for cash prizes against four other postgraduate entries.
The business plan entry was for an ambitious enterprise idea called ‘Inecsys Ltd’ which aims to set up a 20,000 tonne per annum waste tyre processing facility. The facility, which would be based in the North West of England, would use innovative technology to decompose old vehicle tyres in a safe and environmentally friendly way while recovering valuable resources.

The Santander Universities Enterprise Awards are now in their fifth year and aim to support and encourage university students to pursue their business ideas. The competition is open to students from all 78 UK universities partnering with Santander Universities. Ten entrepreneurial projects (five undergraduate and five postgraduate) will compete for prizes ranging from £1,000 for third prize in the Undergraduate category to £20,000 for first prize in the postgraduate category.
Earlier this year, Vladimir won a prize of £1,000 in the Oxford Brookes Business Plan Competition 2015. Since winning the award Vladimir has been mentored by the Research and Business Development Office at Oxford Brookes to prepare for the national Santander competition.
Andrew Baxter, Business Manager from the Research and Business Development Office at Oxford Brookes University and Vladimir’s mentor said: “It has been a pleasure to follow the success of Vladimir and his business partner Vladislav in the Santander competition as they have produced a well-researched, presented and ambitious business plan.
“Their progress so far is a credit to their hard work.”
Vladimir and Vladislav will join the other candidates to present their idea to the panel of judges on 1 July. The winners will then be announced at an awards ceremony the following day.
