Oxford Brookes is looking to build on its hugely successful social community with two new initiatives.

The University has this week launched both a social wall and a new blogging platform which provides a direct voice for students.

The social wall is an innovative and intuitive online platform which brings together the very latest news, stories, images and videos from across the university into one easy to access space.

It is currently being piloted and can be found at www.brookes.ac.uk/social-wall

Student bloggersThis week also saw the launch of a new series of student blogs.

We know that each of our students is different and so are their experiences. The blogs reflect this and will provide readers with an insight into a year in the life of five of our students.

The first blogs from all of our five regular bloggers can be found at www.brookes.ac.uk/student-blogs

Tim Gibson, Social and Digital Media Manager, commented: “We are very proud of our social community and I am sure these new initiatives will see it grow even further.

“The social wall provides a dedicated space to share the energy and vibrancy of Oxford Brookes. We are also excited to read more from our student bloggers who will be sharing their experiences of life at university.”

The University’s Facebook community is approaching 85,000 likes, with over 14,000 followers on Twitter and more than 550,000 views of videos on our YouTube channel.

The University is keen to hear any feedback on the current Beta stage of the social wall and the student blogs. Any comments should be emailed to socialmedia@brookes.ac.uk
