Tragedy in Japan: a message from our Vice-Chancellor, Professor Janet Beer

Monday, 14 March 2011

I am sure that many of us here at Oxford Brookes have been watching the news from Japan with a heavy heart. The scale of the human tragedy that is emerging is terrible and will touch all of us.

For students from Japan who are studying with us here at Oxford Brookes, I realise that you are a long way from your home and families. If there is anything that my colleagues or I can do to help you, please do talk to us. To contact our International Student Advisory Team (ISAT) please email isat@brookes.ac.uk.

Thankfully all our students who are currently in Japan are reported to be safe and well. I am writing to our Japanese colleagues to thank them for taking care of our students in such difficult circumstances. I hope that we can also be in touch with our former students who are in Japan in the hope that our thoughts and sympathy will offer them some comfort.

This tragedy will affect many families and our thoughts are with them.
