Professor Julie McLeod is Pro Vice Chancellor for Student Experience at Oxford Brookes. Julie’s previous role was as the Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of the West of England (UWE) with responsibility for learning and teaching and the student experience.
She joined the University of the West of England in 1998 following a biomedical research career at the University of London and Bath University and continued her independent research; biomarkers of immune ageing and toxicity, whilst building a strong experience in teaching and learning and curriculum development.
Her main area of focus, as Pro Vice Chancellor at UWE, included strategically leading enhancement activities in online assessment, Technology Enhanced Learning, recognition of learning and teaching practice and student experience. In addition she has a role in QME and curriculum design.
Prior to becoming PVC, Julie was Associate Dean for the Faculty of Health & Life Sciences at UWE. In this role she was responsible for academic oversight of subject areas ranging through nursing, physiotherapy, social work, biomedical science and psychology and thus has strong experience of stakeholder requirements of flexible learning and CPD.
Julie has also recently been strategically involved in the Modernising Scientific Careers framework led by the Department of Health, an invited expert on the Industry Training Network for a EU research and training consortium and a member of the Jisc co-design steering Group.
