The standard is delivered and managed by the School of Education who deliver primary, secondary and post compulsory PGCEs and Assessment Only routes to QTS. Learn more about our education staff.
Assessment will take place in the apprentice's place of work and will be conducted by an Oxford Brookes Assessor. The end point assessment for the teaching standard comprises of a lesson observation and a professional discussion. Both components will be delivered in the apprentice's place of work and will preferably be scheduled on the same day.

The apprentice must have also completed a portfolio of evidence compiled over the duration of the ITT.
The employer will judge when the apprentice is ready for the end-point assessment who may gather views from the training provider and the apprentice to inform this decision. The apprentice should not be entered for the EPA until all requirements are met.
Support and facilities provided by the employer
The assessment will take place within the apprentices typical place of work. The EPA assessor may require the support of the employer to schedule the EPA. A quiet room must be provided for the professional discussion and the employer must obtain consent from any service users involved in the observation. A representative from the employer should be made available to support and assess the professional discussion. The EPA should not be interrupted, the employer should make the assessor aware of any work based policies- e.g. safeguarding requirements which the assessor needs to be aware of in advance.
