The charity Act for Wildlife has posted rare footage of a wild Giant Panda exhibiting natural dispersal behaviour, vital for gene flow between protected populations.

The charity Act for Wildlife has posted rare footage of a wild Giant Panda exhibiting natural dispersal behaviour, vital for gene flow between protected populations.

Simon Dowell, the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences Associate Dean, Strategy & Development, is Trustee of the North of England Zoological Society, which operates Chester Zoo and Act for Wildlife and he recently visited the area to see how Act for Wildlife is helping to trace and track Giant Pandas.

Simon has coordinated the Sichuan Forest Biodiversity Project for the last 12 years on behalf of the Zoo and this new information on Giant Panda dispersal in the nature reserves supported by this project provides encouraging evidence that the conservation measures funded by the project are working.

You can see the footage and read Simon's comments on the Act for Wildlife website.
