Students' Academic Achievements Celebrated with Graduation Prizes

Students and graduates from the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences were awarded prizes to celebrate their academic achievements at this year’s Graduation ceremonies, held at Oxford Brookes University in June.

Students and graduates from the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences were awarded prizes to celebrate their academic achievements at this year’s Graduation ceremonies, held at Oxford Brookes University in June.

This included leading global brand Yakult’s Award for the Best  Undergraduate Nutrition Student, presented to Fay Nugent, along with a £250 cheque from Yakult UK. The equivalent award for Postgraduate nutrition students went to Sally Morey. International sports product company PowerBar, and publishers Oxford University Press, Elsevier and Human Kinetics also sponsored student awards at Brookes.

Recent Biomedical Science graduate Obiageli Orji received the prestigious Institute of Biomedical Science President's Prize, and Michael Jackson was awarded The Society of Biology Top Bioscience Student Award for gaining the highest mark in his graduation year. Another successful student was Elena Price, national winner of The Royal Agricultural Society for England Student Award, a prize for outstanding performance over the course of her studies. She was awarded five years free membership of the Society.

The Michael Argyle prize at Oxford Brookes University is awarded annually to the psychology undergraduate with the best final year project, in memory of the late Professor Argyle, who was one of Britain’s leading social psychologists with an international reputation. This year’s prize was presented to Rosanna Sparks. The Mark Evans Memorial Prize for clinical excellence in Operating Department Practice was awarded to Fiona Manton, the graduate who demonstrated the greatest clinical development and contribution over the programme.

Over 25 students from across the Faculty, both undergraduate and postgraduate, received prizes this academic year in recognition of their success and hard work.
