Faculty of Technology, Design and Environment
Unit E explores the pleasures of public architecture, counter programmes and the rigorous but playful nature of the design process. The Unit develops the idea of experimental architectural representation, describing moments of spatial experience.
The practice values research alongside commissioned design work. The research focuses on everyday modes of living, experimental architectural representation and the idea of portraying experience rather than reality
Margaret is a qualified architect and director of the architectural practice Archmongers. She graduated in 2009, receiving her MArch in Architecture with Distinction from The Bartlett School of Architecture and was awarded the Dean’s list for excellence in design. Margaret’s work was nominated for the RIBA Silver Medal and she was featured in the‘50 Best UK Design Graduates’ by Blueprint Magazine.
Margaret established Archmongers with her colleague Johan Hybschmann in 2010. The practice is a cross-disciplinary architecture and design studio working with residential, community and cultural projects as well as design research. The studio works with design through making, and development through collaboration and conversation. The design work strives to harvest the extraordinary in any given spatial environment, by using architectural interventions to discover, articulate and mediate to create visual and spatial delight.
Margaret has taught first year Bsc Architecture as a design tutor at the Bartlett School of Architecture in 2009-2013.
