The effect of construction activity on SPAwaterfowl; a case study of the Abberton Reservoir Enhancement Scheme
The group’s research at Abberton reservoir, Essex investigates the effect of construction on waterfowl populations at one of the largest man-made water bodies in Europe. The site is internationally renowned for its waterfowl and is protected under international law as a consequence. The project aims to assess the predicted and actual impacts of the mitigation work required under environmental legislation via a close examination of the suitability and effectiveness of the large scale wetland habitat creation that has taken place.
