Our Cricket club provides opportunities to play year-round with Indoor and Outdoor teams playing in BUCS. Indoor training takes place at Brookes Sport Headington where we have indoor nets, bowling machines and great coaching.

Our elite players also have the opportunity to play for the combined Oxford Universities MCCU team, competing against other MCCU programs and County teams. In recent seasons, Brookes has been heavily represented by students at this level.

  • Oxford Universities MCCU

The MCCU programme is an amazing opportunity for elite level cricketers who aspire to become professional. Oxford is one of just six university centres across the country where an elite team of coaches work with players daily from November to June across all disciplines: Batting, Fast Bowling and Spin Bowling, Fielding, Wicket-Keeping and Conditioning.

Every summer, players selected for the MCCU have the opportunity to play against some of the best players in the world through our County Programme. In 2015, this included: Kevin Pieterson, Steve Finn, Nick Compton, Chris Tremlett and Sam Robson among others, at the stunning University Parks.

Players demonstrating outstanding personal qualities, real commitment and progress can apply for a sports scholarship award. These are awarded in January and February by the MCCU coaches.

Scheme update March 2018: Funding to retain the MCCU scheme across all the 6 centres, has been secured until 2021 and discussions continue to extend this further. Further updates will be made when available. Please contact us should you have any questions regarding this matter.
