Row Britannia Challenge 2020: unite and row for mental health

University Mental Health Day takes place on Thursday 5 March. As part of this day, Oxford Brookes is participating in the 2020 Row Britannia challenge for Sport Relief. The initiative isn’t just about getting fit, but also aims to reduce student and staff isolation, and improve overall wellbeing.

What is the challenge?

Row Britannia is an inclusive (adaptive sport) mental health, fitness and wellbeing challenge set up by the British Inspiration Trust (BRIT). Row Britannia has invited universities across the UK to unite and row for mental health. The challenge asks participating universities to log 2,020 miles and to raise £3,000 for Sport Relief. In addition to raising vital funds, the challenge aims to raise positive awareness of mental health, fitness and wellbeing across universities and their communities, and to reduce isolation.

Who can take part?

Oxford Brookes is setting up an institution-wide team to compete in the Row Britannia challenge. All Brookes students, staff, alumni and partner organisations are invited to join the team by rowing or donating to the cause!

We want everyone to get involved in whatever way they can by dropping in to one of our events or by joining in from home or your local gym. There’s no need to register to take part and joining our team is easy, simply log your miles online and / or donate, if you would like to, using the Oxford Brookes Row Britannia JustGiving page!

When and where are Row Britannia events taking place at Oxford Brookes?

Row Britannia events will take place from Monday 9 March until Friday 13 March, during Sport Relief Week 2020.

To help Oxford Brookes reach the 2,020 mile goal, we’ll be rolling out rowing machines across all University campuses and sites. Students and staff can stop by and participate in a quick rowing session or donate to the cause!
